Winter Blood Donations In Decline

Blood banks are also feeling the effects when school or businesses close down. Blood supply in Chicago is so low they are asking for help.     

The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is also left out in the cold when schools and businesses close.

"It's connected somewhat to school closings, somewhat to just the other hassle of getting around," said Kirby Winn, director of PR for the MVRBC. "If there's snow and ice on the ground or maybe just not wanting to leave home when it's below zero and windy."

Blood centers continue to look for donations.
