Just 48 hours from Super Bowl Sunday, a new poll out Friday morning shows a large number of Americans don't want their kids to play football.

The poll from NBC News and the Wall Street Journal shows 40 percent of adults say they're worried about their kids getting concussions while playing the sport, and would encourage their kids to play another sport to avoid getting a concussion.

Some might find the results interesting, considering the country's great love of football.  is interesting ... Considering how football crazed our country is.

For example, last year the Super Bowl was the most watched event in the entire country, with more than 100 million viewers tuning in.

Over recent years, new steps have been taken in effort to cut down on the number of concussions in football. The American Academy of Neurology recently released guidelines recommending coaches take players out of the game as soon as they may have gotten a concussion. The NFL has also been promoting safety in youth leagues.

We asked our viewers to weigh in on the issue on Facebook. Most responded saying they realize there are risks involved in any sport their child is going to play and didn't see a reason to keep them out of the game entirely.
