Businesses across the Quad Cities are stepping up to give back to the community. Thirty-six businesses are competing against each other to collect non-perishable canned good and monetary donations to help support the River Bend Food Banks backpack program.

The backpack program helps students with healthy nutritious food each Friday during the school year. This drive is different from years past.

"This is the first year that the corporate challenge is a separate time of year from our student drive and we're doing that just to raise awareness about hunger at a different time and to bring food into the food bank when typically they may not have as much in store as they have in other times throughout the year," Executive Director of the Student Hunger Drive, Denise Hester said.

The drive continues through February 27th. Contact Hester to sign your business up at denise@studenthungerdrive.org.
