On Tuesday, one of our engineers here at KWQC found a box of "survival biscuits." He joked that if we got snowed in this winter, we would at least have something to eat.

Our station, on Brady Street, used to be a fallout shelter and the supplies were most likely stocked in 1962.

Food and other supplies were given by the government to about 100,000 fallout shelters around the United States. The government stopped providing the supplies a couple years later, and they were supposed to collect the leftovers, but never did.

We will not open our box of survival biscuits at the station, but we know they are most likely wrapped inside with wax paper, similar to saltine crackers.
