Some athletes call it a combination of surfing and skateboarding. Over the years, it has become a powerhouse Olympic event. Snowboarding!

At Snowstar in Andalusia, some boarders took to the course.

Joe Dziadyk  loves the adrenalin. The rush. Being able to be free, he says.

Some snowboarders took on the "A" frame. The object is to get the board in the middle of a rail  and balance as best you can.

The Dragon Trail is another challenge snowboarders encounter on this course. Joe says trying to hit a jump or a rail requires quite a bit of mental preparation.
You want to make sure the landing is okay.

Snowboarders are hitting jumps between thirty five and forty miles an hour. Ramiro Cedeno says to be successful, a snowboarder has to have that daredevil mentality.

Joe says he admires the Olympians who fall, pick themselves back up, dust off, and get back on the board again.

Shaun White is the sport's greatest. Some folks refer to him as the Wayne Gretzky of snowboarding.
He'll be going for Olympic gold again.

So sit back and enjoy the Sochi Games.  Watch the athletes "Shred  The Gnar (that means ride the terrain), and Tearin It Up (riding really well and confidently).
It's time to see the best in the world go Cruisin and Grab Some Big Air.  Now, that's Gnarly!
