Quad City Cold Hard Facts-Winter 2014

Posted: Updated:

It sure seems like it has been a long, cold winter and KWQC Meteorologist Kevin Phelps has pulled out the cold hard facts that show it has.

The average temperature so far this season is 16.9 degrees for the Quad Cities, which is measured at the Quad City International Airport in Moline. That would tie the record for the 3rd coldest winter since 1905. The winter of 1978-79 was the coldest, with an average temp of 14.1 degrees.

The Quad Cities has also endured 27 sub-zero daily low temperatures this winter. Those cold numbers could grow, since there are another 42 days until spring.
