Vote Ends Strike At Dixon Foods Plant

UPDATE: The strike at Bay Valley Foods in Dixon, Ill. is over.

Company officials issued the following statement following Thursday's vote.
 
"Bay Valley Foods is pleased that our employees voted today to accept the company's last, best and final contract offer and will be returning to work Sunday" said Dan Dring, Vice President of Human Resources, Operations for Bay Valley Foods. 

"The new labor agreement contains fair and reasonable work rules changes the company had been seeking while also providing wage increases and stability for our employees over the next three years".

ORIGINAL: A strike is underway at a Quad City area company. The Teamsters Union Local 722 is on strike against Bay Valley Foods in Dixon, Ill.

A company representative says future contract talks are scheduled and in the meantime, the business is still operating using management employees.

There are 112 hourly workers with a total of 125 employees at the aseptic packaged foods plant in Dixon.
