Moline's Mayor to Give State of the City Address

Posted: Updated:

Moline Mayor Scott Raes will give his State of the City address at 12:15 p.m. Monday at the iWireless Center.

"It's a time where we look back and celebrate our successes," said Mayor Raes. "And then [we] look forward and project our opportunities - see what we have in the pipeline."

The mayor said there's a lot going on in the city right now and the speech is a way to keep he and city leaders focused on what they've accomplished, and what is yet to come.

"We just have so much going on right now," said Mayor Raes. "Western Illinois phase two is springing out of the ground. We made a development with Three Corners Development Services to do student housing, which Western doesn't offer, so that's a private development which is also going to offer market rate apartments.

Raes went on to add "We're working on the multi-use Amtrak station. That's underway. We have a developer for the upper floors of that. So for the extended stay, the Radisson is going to develop that. Sam' Club's going up, Holiday Inn Express, there's John Deere Road reconstruction - so things are just really popping right now. It's pretty exciting."

Moline department directors will join Mayor Raes as he gives his address. The event is open to the public.
