Davenport: Water Main Break On Eastern Near Kimberly

Posted: Updated: Feb 10, 2014 10:19 AM

Repairs are being made to what was thought to be a water main break in Davenport.

A spokesperson for Iowa American water tells is crews are repairing what they think is a leaking valve in the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Kimberly Road.

But, in order to make the repairs, they will have to shut down the water main.

They say it will affect some businesses and residences south of Kimberly Road on Eastern Avenue as well as the Northgate Shopping Center.

Crews started the shutdown process on Monday morning and hope to have repairs complete by later in the day.

The northbound lanes of Eastern will be closed.

Traffic will be one-lane in each direction in the southbound lanes beginning at Kimberly and Eastern.

They say the road will most likely be closed for a few days after repairs are made so the temporary patch can be put in place in the roadway.

Davenport city officials are asking motorists to use caution and alternate routes to avoid delays.
