Gene Heffron certainly knows his way around Olympic Ice. He is the voice of experience.

The seventy four year old coach has been teaching lessons for forty five years.

Flashback to 1968. Heffron and his skating partner Vicki Camper participated in Ice Dancing at the Winter Olympics in Grenoble. At that time, Ice Dancing was an exhibition sport and the pair could not medal.

However, they certainly turned some heads with their athleticism on the ice

Gene says the judges were impressed with their speed on the ice, the edge quality, and the lean that they had. It was not uncommon for the two skaters to practice six hours a day

These days, Heffron teaches lessons at the Figure Skating Club of the Quad Cities.

Figure skater Jordanne Twigg says Heffron knows exactly what he is talking about. He is also a figure skating judge.

Skater Elissa Moylan enjoys the grace and beauty of the sport.

Gene commutes weekly from Rockford to the Quad Cities. The rink is his classroom. When Coach Heffron speaks, aspiring figure skaters certainly listen.
