City leaders in Davenport considering another loft apartment project as part of a transformation for the city's old warehouse district.

A developer wants to turn these two old industrial buildings at 511 Pershing into apartments calling them the Pershing Hill Lofts. Davenport city council members will look at a re-zoning ordinance to allow the project to happen.

Alderman Bill Boom said combined with several other projects in the works the city is hoping to have somewhere between 12 and 13-hundred apartments in the downtown.

"It means downtown Davenport remains the hottest property in the Quad City area," Boom said. "It'll continue to bring more people so we'll see more businesses open up in the downtown."

The city says developers would like to get to work on the Pershing Hill Lofts project this summer.

Davenport city leaders will meet tonight at 5:30 in council chambers.
