UPDATE: Arrest In Burlington Officer-Involved Shooting

We have more information about an officer-involved shooting at a Burlington casino parking lot. Police have arrested a man and charged him with assault on a peace officer, operating a car without the owner's consent and interference with official acts.

David Wayne Cross. 40, was arrested Thursday morning after being found sleeping in a car. Court records show Mr. Cross has an extensive criminal record including OWI, domestic assault, theft and assault on a police officer.

ORIGINAL: Police in Burlington are looking for help to locate a suspected thief.

Around 9:10 p.m. on Wednesday February 12, 2014, law enforcement agents at the Catfish Bend Casino received a report of a someone breaking into vehicles in the casino's parking garage.

As an agent responded to the scene, they say the suspect had managed to steal a casino employee's vehicle.

The agent attempted to stop the subject in the stolen vehicle, but they sped toward the agent's location.  

They say the agent got out of the way and fired three shots at the suspect.

At this point, the subject struck the agent's patrol car with the stolen vehicle and sped away.

Officials say the stolen vehicle was found a short time later, but the suspect was gone.

No injuries have been reported.

The suspect is described as a black male, wearing a heavy overcoat and stocking hat. 

The incident is under investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Burlington Police Department.
