Due to an unexpected drop in pressure likely due to several water main breaks the Rock Island Water Treatment Plant is issuing a boil advisory.

It is issued immediately for a massive area from 7th Avenue south to the Rock River and from 11th Street east to the Moline border.

All water used for drinking and cooking should be boiled until further notice. Pressure to the system has been restored and City crews continue to repair multiple water main breaks.

The boil advisory is expected to be lifted in 24 hours. This is just a precaution, there are no indications the water is unsafe for consumption.
