Eastern Avenue Bridge Opens Friday Morning after Flooding

Posted: Updated:

The city of Davenport reopened the Eastern Avenue Bridge around 6 a.m. Friday after the road had been closed for flooding overnight.

Just after 6 p.m. Thursday the city informed KWQC that Duck Creek was up and out of its banks at the bridge. In an email, the city's communications director, Jennifer Nahra said crews were setting up detour signage and were expected to close the entire road by about 7 p.m. Thursday.

By Friday morning, the creek had receded – leaving a layer of ice on top of a large portion of Eastern Avenue Park. Large chunks of ice can also be seen lining the sides of the creek.

Despite the icy conditions in the park, the bridge and road conditions on Eastern Avenue there were dry Friday morning and drivers were traveling across the road without any apparent issues.
