Man Sentenced In Death Of Davenport Mother

A Davenport man will spend about a dozen years behind bars in the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend.

Albert Coats was sentenced on charges of involuntary manslaughter, a domestic abuse offender in possession of a firearm and burglary.

Coats was originally charged with second degree murder for the shooting death of Amanda Abbott on June 22, 2013, but later the charges were reduced.

Coats was also ordered to pay restitution.
