Farmers Program Help The Hungry

Posted: Updated:

Illinois farmers are helping feed families with a donation to the River Bend Foodbank. It's part of the "Bushels For Hunger" program.

Officials presented the River Bend Foodbank with nearly $31,500. The donation brings the total amount to more than $100-thousand over the past fours years.

River Bend Foodbank executive director Tom Laughlin says the money will help to effectively feed more families.

"It's a natural partnership where really it's coming from farm to table and just allows us to feed more hungry people," River Bend Foodbanks' Tom Laughlin said.

The farm bureaus involved are from Rock Island, Henry, Mercer, Whiteside and Stark counties.
