A Rock Falls teen is dead after what officials call an accidental shooting at the home of an Illinois State Police Trooper.

Police have not released a lot of details, but the interim commander says two teens were involved in the incident that happened at about 11:40 Saturday morning.

In a written statement, Rock Falls, Ill. Superintendent Ron McCord says a freshman student was accidentally shot and killed while at the home of a close friend.

McCord says "a crisis team has been mobilized and additional counseling and support services will be available to both students and staff members before, during and after school hours on Monday, March 3, 2014 and beyond if necessary."

Police officials say an investigation is ongoing and will not be treated any differently than normal, despite the fact that this happened at a trooper's home.
