The FBI says three bank robberies in Jones and Jackson counties the past year are related. At a news conference Monday, Mar. 3, 2014, officials explained the similarities in two bank robberies in Oxford Junction in Jones County, Iowa and a recent robbery in Baldwin, Iowa in Jackson County.

The first robbery occurred a year ago, on February 27, 2013 at the Citizens State Bank of Oxford Junction. In that case the suspect, wearing a bushy fake beard and armed with a handgun, ordered employees into the vault and then fled with the cash in an older blue and silver Chevy pickup that was parked outside the bank.

The second robbery occurred in July, 2013, at the same bank. In that case, the suspect, with a fake red mustache and a full beard, ordered employees to the floor, took the cash and drove away in a white Dodge pick-up with a red stripe, the words "DODGE" on the tailgate and a U.S. flag decal on the back window.

The third robbery occurred on January 31, 2014 at the Ohnward Bank and Trust in Baldwin. The suspect, wearing a dark colored fake beard, had a pistol and ordered employees into the vault before taking the money and leaving the area in a Chevy pickup with a red stripe.

Authorities say they believe a lone suspect or two suspects conspiring with each other are responsible for all three robberies. They also say the suspects are familiar with the rural gravel roads in the area used as an escape route.

The Ohnward Bank is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction for the robbery of the its bank. The Citizens State Bank is also offering a $25,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for robbing its branch in Oxford Junction.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the FBI at (319) 743-6500.
