Fire crews were called to battle a blaze at a major flower distributor in Milan, Ill. Monday night.

Officials say the fire broke out at Bonnett Wholesale Florist, located at 119 8th St E., around 9:30.

Owner, Greg Bonnett says the fire started in the part of the building where the compressors for the refrigeration are located.

He says it was a very close call from the fire spreading to the rest of the building.

Firefighters responded within about four minutes of being called.

Bonnett says they quickly put the fire out and he's just happy things were not worse than they were.

"Everyone is fine. Everyone got out easily and safely and that's really the important thing."

Bonnett says his company will still be able to make deliveries around the QCA today.

He says they serve about 900 florists across the area and they'll still be able to get their flowers from the wholesale retailer today.

He says because of the damage, though, they will have to improvise a bit.
