4th Grade Mardi Gras Celebration

Posted: Updated:

It's Fat Tuesday and that means Mardi Gras and fourth graders at Jordan Catholic School had their own celebration.

Students dressed up in green, purple and yellow shirts to go along with the handmade masks that they made. Once they were dressed for the occasion they got to parade through the school and even crowned their own king and queen.

Let's not forget all the goodies including a king's cake.

"It was fun. I mean I never knew what people thought of me and I always thought I was kind of or I wanted to be royal and now I sort of am," king and queen Keaton Parboosingh and Ellie Dopler said. "So that's right. I never knew I was going to be king."

Along with devouring some of the tasty Mardi Gras food, the kids also learned the history behind the celebration.
