DES MOINES – The State Board of Education honored students, schools and businesses for stand-out work they have done to ensure career and college readiness among Iowa's high school seniors.

The honorees are:

  • Student: Nathaniel Klein of Mount Vernon High School. Chosen for his high academics and extensive extracurricular activities.

 

  • School: Mount Pleasant High School. Honored for its extensive programs it offers students designed to ensure career and college readiness

 

  • Community College: Northeast Iowa Community College. Selected for its work with the private sector to ensure what is being taught will help fill the needs of an evolving work environment.

 

  • Business: Bodine Electric Co., Peosta. Honored for its leadership in partnering with Northeast Iowa Community College and private businesses, ensuring that students have the option to leave high school for high-skilled employment.

 The Iowa Department of Education, in partnership with ACT, identified this year's honorees.
