Update 3-11-14:

Illinois State Police released more information about the suspect vehicle that struck and killed a 17-year-old boy while out walking along Interstate 88 near Joslin, Ill. Police are looking for a 1999-2002 Chevy Suburban, Tahoe of Silverado that is missing a driver's side heated mirror. The mirror was recovered at the scene. The color of the vehicle is unknown.

Police say the victim of the hit-and-run was walking along the highway at mile marker 6 after running out of gas. The Rock Island County Coroner has identified the victim as 17-year-old Emilio A. Perez of Villa Park, Ill. Preliminary autopsy results reveal he died of a traumatic neck injury.


State Police have now confirmed that the victim was a 17-year-old male. His identity will not be released because of his age.

Illinois State Police say a pedestrian on Interstate 88 in Rock Island County has been struck and killed by a passing car that then, reportedly kept on driving.

The hit and run happened close to mile marker six, near the Joslin, Illinois, exit, around 7:30 Saturday night.

Police say their investigation has resulted in the following possible vehicle description: Full Size Truck or SUV, Missing Driver's side mirror and damage to driver's side headlight. Unknown color  
State police say they do not have any witnesses at this point. 

They are asking anyone who was traveling in the area of mile marker 6 on I-88 between 7:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and may have witnessed anything relating to this incident to call State Police headquarters at (309) 752-4915 x 0

The name of the victim has not been released.

Police continue to investigate.
