It's official. The Quad City Criterium is moving across the river.

The Quad City Bicycle Club announced on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, the annual Memorial Day race will be held in the Village of East Davenport, starting this year.

Organizers say the course start/finish line will be located on11th Street in the Village.

Racers will ascending into the hills of McClellan Heights and finish by heading back down on 12th Street.

The total distance of the course will be three quarters of a mile.

Davenport Public Works Director, Mike Clark says the streets will be ready for the racers.

"We really want this race to be successful. We really want this race to be safe. Knowing that the bicyclists are traveling at fairly high speeds with fairly high pressure small tires, we're gonna pay a lot of attention to making sure the surface itself doesn't have a lot of linear cracks that could throw those front tires off and cause an accident."

The QCBC also announced a new benefactor for the race.

The Criterium will partner with the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation to help raise awareness and support for the NPCF mission of serving patients with pancreatic cancer and their families.

All profits from the 2014 race will be donated to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
