Three QC Area Retailers Caught In Underage Alcohol Sting

Posted: Updated:

Three business in the Quad City area have been caught selling alcohol to minors. It's part of a statewide compliance check.

The Candlelight Inn and Schreiner Oil Company in Rock Falls were cited in the check. Petey's Pub and Grill in Monmouth, Illinois was also cited.

The violations are the result of an ongoing undercover operation conducted by agents with the Illinois Liquor Control Commission, local law enforcement and volunteers from high schools and colleges. The teams randomly visit liquor stores, restaurants and bars in communities around the state to check for ongoing compliance with state laws mandating that no liquor is sold to minors under the age of 21.

Overall, 77 percent of the 211 businesses visited in this sweep were compliant.
