Police Report Multiple Stabbings At Shenanigan's Pub

Posted: Updated:

Davenport police report multiple people were stabbed at Shenanigan's Irish pub on 3rd Street at around 4:30 PM. Witnesses say they saw up to three victims, with at least two profusely bleeding. They say one was bleeding from his neck. Some St. Patrick's Day party-goers described the incident as "unfortunate," even shocking. They were enjoying live music inside of the pub, when suddenly, the atmosphere changed. One man says he saw chaos commence during a quick run to the restroom.

"Yes, yes he was attacking someone," witness Mac Roberts said. "A gentleman walked in, and he seemed distressed, and started shoving some people out of the way."

He says he didn't see the man holding a knife when he walked in, but later saw a fixed blade and another man lying on the ground.

"There was a gentleman on top of him, and we all kind of lifted him off and threw him, tossed him onto the ground and, you know, restrained him until the law enforcement showed up," he said.

He says the victim was bleeding profusely from his neck.

"Yeah, so here we are with this dude just bleeding out on the street, and I guess he's lucky to be alive, considering he had a neck wound," witness Kellan Brower said.

"I wasn't completely sure what was going on, but then I saw another victim come out, and it seemed like he was bleeding also," Gage Hanson, another witness, said.

Police are not confirming the number of victims at this time, including their injuries, names, or a suspect. Witnesses say up to three people were stabbed.

"It's really not anything I'd never seen before, but it's nothing you'd expect to see in the US," Roberts said.

"It's unfortunate that something like that would happen in the Quad Cities," Hanson said.

Not everyone noticed what was happening.

"I came back, and they were really worried about me because I was outside when it actually happened, and I had no idea," Aaron Wilson, a bystander, said.

Despite the incident, some plan to party long into the night.

"You can't really discount the holiday just because one bad thing happens," Wilson said.

Others say they're still surprised to have become witnesses to something like this during a typically peaceful celebration.
