Could Stabbing at Shenanigan's in Davenport Been Prevented?

Posted: Updated:

It left three people injured.

On Saturday, police say Davenport man, David Ramm entered a bathroom at Shenanigan's Bar in Davenport and started swinging a knife, injuring three people.

"He didn't want to wait in line. He pushed through the door," explains Owner Don Davison. "A couple of the younger guys said, "Hey, you gotta wait in line like everyone else, what are you doing?" He took a pocket knife out of his pocket, started swinging, and cutting people."

But, at the end of the day, could the whole problem could've been avoided?

Davison doesn't think so.

"Bathrooms are hard to monitor. With privacy laws, and things like that, you can't have cameras in there," says Davison.

According to Davison, Shenanigan's had 6 security workers on hand, and an off-duty officer on the way.

But even with all the help, he doesn't believe the attack could've been prevented in a bathroom.

"If that would've happened anywhere in here, besides the bathroom, we would've been on it before it even happened," he explains. "If he had been pushing people around, he (Ramm) would have been out of here before his hand was even in his pocket."

But the altercation did happen in a bathroom.

Now, Davison says while he can't put cameras in a bathroom, he can put security there.

Something he now plans on doing.
