Update: We now know the identity of the motorist killed in the accident on River Drive. According to an email sent to members of the Bettendorf High School community, senior Natalie Munoz was killed in the accident.

BettendorfHigh School had counselors available at school tonight from 6-8 p.m. on March 25th and will continue to have counselors there all day on March 26th beginning at 7 a.m.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Update: Davenport police say one person was killed in a morning crash on River Dr.

Police say the driver of a silver Ford Escape was traveling westbound on River Dr., lost control and crossed into the eastbound lanes of traffic. The Ford Escape was then struck by a red Chevy Impala and a red and white Ford pickup.

The driver of the Chevy was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. The driver of the pick up was not hurt. The name of the deceased driver will not be released until family members are notified.

Police say it does not appear the condition of the roadway was a factor in the crash.

Update: The road reopened just before noon after police reconstructed the crash as part of their investigation. At least one person was taken away by ambulance, but no information has been released.
