Stray Cat Loses Ears To Frostbite

Posted: Updated:

His ears are scabbed over and disfigured from being out in the sub-freezing cold. He was found wondering around in Sterling, Ill. by a family that fed him for a few days. When he didn't go away, they took him to a shelter. Volunteers named him Shiloh and nursed him back to health. Now, the Animal Aid Humane Society in Moline is trying to find a home for what appears to be a 1-year-old Siamese mix.

Shiloh appeared on the News at Noon March 25, 2014. He sat comfortably on shelter director Vickie Sanders' lap and seemed to appreciate the safety of her embrace. Sanders says Shiloh is an example as to why pet owners should keep their cats indoors. Under their care, he's now gained weight and other than missing most of his ears, is in good health.

Shiloh is available for adoption to preferably a warm and loving home. You can contact the Animal Aid Humane Society in Moline, Ill. (309) 797-6550. The shelter is located at 230 50th St. It's open Tues - Thurs. from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sat. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
