A routine traffic stop on I-80 led to the arrest of three individuals for stealing merchandise from area children's stores. The individuals were involved in a "Grab and Run" shoplifting ring with merchandise totaling $1,200 from Quad Cities stores.

James E. McKinney, 20 of Davenport, was stopped for driving too close near mile market 66. McKinney was driving without a license. The Lostant Police Department dog then performed a free air sniff with a positive alert.

A search of the car revealed cannabis residue and numerous children's clothes with security tags attached.

McKinney and his two passengers, Tarica S. Wright, 25 of Davenport (who was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Will County) and Deandra M. Cooke, 18 of Davenport, were taken to District 17 Headquarters for processing.

McKinney was charged with driving while license suspended. McKinneyposted bond and was released. Wright was confined at the LaSalle County Jailfor the outstanding warrant and Cooke was confined at the Bureau County Jailcharged with Possession of Stolen Property over $500.00.
