UPDATE 11:20PM: Police in Maquoketa, Iowa say the suspect in an officer involved shooting is dead.

The suspect is identified as 30-year-old Aaron Edward Scott.

Police say he was in a blue 2005 Dodge Ram pickup truck when he was approached by police.

At some point, they say Scott shot the officer with a rifle and fled the scene to the south of Maquoketa.

A pursuit began. Police say Scott struck a Maquoketa police car at some point, causing them to lose the suspect.

The suspect's vehicle was later found at 150th Avenue, north of 136 involved in a rollover accident.

Scott was found dead in the vehicle.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, April 2, 2014.

UPDATE 6:42AM:  Maquoketa police have now confirmed a Maquoketa Police officer was shot around 2:50am Tuesday morning. 

In a press release, police report the officer was conducting a traffic stop and the suspect shot the officer. 

The officer has non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. 

Police say the suspect drove away.  We are uncertain, at this point, if the suspect has been caught.

ORIGINAL: KWQC has confirmed there has been an officer-involved shooting in Maquoketa, Iowa.
