Points Instead Of Tickets Issued On Rock Island Arsenal

Posted: Updated:

Instead of tickets, the Rock Island Arsenal will begin issuing points for driving infractions on Arsenal Island. Officials say they enforce rules under Illinois law, but cases on the military installation are tried in federal courts.

So, effective Tuesday, April 1, 2014, points can be assessed for speeding, reckless driving, and other traffic offenses. Officials say the more serious the offense, the more points you get. Fines also depend on the offense.

Anyone getting more than 12 points in a year or 18 points over 24 months can lose driving privileges on the island.
