A new Menards mega store opened this morning in Davenport. It's a 205-thousand square foot development in the 66-hundred block of Brady Street.

The new facility has created about 100 jobs and is predicted to rank in the top twenty out of Menards 287 stores, which is good for Davenport's tax base.

"This week we've had people knocking on our door just trying to get a peek," Davenport Menards general manager Mike Campbell said. "They thought we were open. They saw our team members and thought we were open. They were walking in the door and we actually had to stop them, so we've had quite a bit of interest in the store."

Right now, the old location is still open. It may stay open until April 18th depending on what's left in the store.

It will eventually become a self-storage facility.
