Sterling, IL Hit-And-Run Victim Identified, Police Look For Leads

UPDATE: Sterling Police say the unidentified man who was seriously injured in Wednesday's hit-and-run has been identified.

A family member positively identified the victim as 20-year-old Jacob Carr of Sterling, Ill.

At last report, police say Carr is listed in critical condition at Rockford Memorial Hospital.

ORIGINAL: Police in Sterling, Ill. are looking to identify a man apparently involved in a hit-and-run overnight.

Officials were called to the 300 block of west Fifth Street around 12:35 a.m. on Wednesday morning, April 2, 2014.

At the scene they found an unidentified, unresponsive black male between 20 and 40-years-old with facial hair and identifying tattoos on his chest and arms.

Police say he was the victim of a hit-and-run, sometime between 11:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.

They say he sustained serious injuries.

He was taken to the hospital by ambulance and later flown to Rockford Memorial Hospital.

His condition is unknown.

Police are looking for any information to help identify the victim as well as information on the incident.
