We got in touch with a QCA soldier who is stationed at Fort Hood. PSC Parker Rios is from Burlington and has been at Fort Hood for more than a year.

He says it's a second home and actually he just got back to that second home. He and his unit had been training and were 5 minutes from being let go when the sirens went off.

"You are in lock down and were all you got to be kidding," Rios said. "We just spent a month a way from home and all we want to do is go home and take a shower."

He says the place feels different, but it's hard to explain. He says the training and this shooting brought his unit, 11 Bravo Infantry, closer together and made them talk about what would happen if they were confronted with an active shooter.

"If something like this would happen in our company if the person would to come in there he'd probably only get one or two rounds off because if we heard one or two rounds, we'd be like we need to eliminate this threat," he said.

PSC Rios is training for his first tour in Afghanistan.
