Student Art At Davenport Post Office

Posted: Updated:

Young students from Thurgood Marshall in Rock Island got to see some of their artwork displayed in the Davenport Post Office. It was part of a competition put on by the post office there.

The Postmaster invited area schools to draw their own versions of the black heritage stamps they offer.

Thurgood had a large amount of entries and were honored for their hard work.

"It opens up the minds of the community where we came from," postmaster Anthony Harris said. "It's very important we don't forget where we came from and it also motivates us to see what we can achieve in we apply ourselves."

The postmaster says this is the first year they've held the competition. They hope to get more schools in the QCA involved next year.
