Original:

One man is dead after a three vehicle accident in Jo Daviess County Friday night.

It happened around 11:45 p.m. near the intersection of Galena Ridge Drive and Highway 20 in rural Stockton.

The Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office says one vehicle was traveling east on Highway 20 when the driver, a male who officials are not naming at this point, tried to pass another vehicle, driven by Connie Bailey of Stockton, Illinois, in a no passing zone.

The male driver in the first vehicle then struck a semi truck, driven by Pantoja Gonzalez of Chicago, head on.

The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is not being released at this time, pending notification of his family.

Bailey was transported by helicopter to Saint Anthony's Hospital in Rockford, Illinois. We have no word on her condition at this hour.

Gonzalez was transported to Midwest Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
