Carrie Olson Found Dead In Minnesota

UPDATE: Detectives from the Rock Island and Davenport Police Departments are heading to Hastings, Minn. to meet with local investigators.

Assistant Davenport Police Chief, Donald Schaeffer says the officers will be sharing all aspects of the investigation to decide who is best to take the lead.

At that point, Schaeffer says the other two departments will take supportive rolls in the case.

Shaeffer says at this time, "very limited information is being disseminated, to maintain the integrity of the investigation."

In related news, the Hennepin County Medical Examiners' Office has confirmed through dental records that the body is that of 29-year-old Carrie Elaine Olson of Davenport, Iowa.

ORIGINAL: The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has confirmed that Carrie Olson was found dead in Hastings, Minnesota.

Her cause of death is pending further investigations by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office, Dakota County Sheriff's Office and Davenport Police Department.

Her body was found in a vacant lot at 17354 Presley Circle in Hastings on Saturday, April 5.

Before the news, one of the latest efforts to find Carrie involved using billboards. The company donated three ads looking for Carrie around the middle of March.

Family and friends spent frigid days searching for Carrie shortly after she was reported missing. She was last seen at a gas station in Rock Island.

After a few days of searching the police asked us for help getting the word out. More searches were done. A cadaver dog was brought in at the end of January to help with the search but like all the other times, the search ended empty handed. Rewards have been offered, and the billboards went up not too long ago.

The Hennepin County medical examiner says Carrie's body was found in a vacant lot in Hastings, Minnesota on Saturday. Her cause of death is not known, the medical examiner as well as the local sheriff and Davenport police continue investigating.

Her family is together, grieving the loss of their daughter.
