Rock Island Golfers Start Swinging

Posted: Updated:

Golfers are back in action. Lots of people got out on the links to enjoy a warm spring day on the links.
A golf services manager with Rock Island parks and recreation says the winter weather took its toll on the courses, and it's taken longer to get them in shape for the season. Saukie and Highland Springs golf courses in Rock Island are now open for the season.

He says frost was four feet deep at some courses but today the golfers are out enjoying the sun.

"Both courses are seeing a lot of play today and people I think are anxious just to finally see the sunlight and get out and swing the clubs," said Todd Winter, Golf Services Manager of Rock Island Parks and Recreation.

Crews also had to deal with all the snow on the courses and tree limbs before opening up.
