SCOTT COUNTY, IA -- The grass fire started around five o'clock Wednesday night, burning over 150 acres of land.

As of 8:00 p.m., Blue Grass firefighters say it is still burning 50 more acres.

The fire started just north of 130th Avenue near Koonhunter Road, seen off of US-61. The wind blew it into the ravine and onto many trees. Firefighters say there are sixty-feet-tall dead trees on fire.

Four fire departments are working to put it out, including Blue Grass, Montpelier, Buffalo, and Walcott. That makes about 60 firefighters on scene.

Officials say winds are not helping conditions as it's blowing embers into unburnt areas.

Blue Grass Fire Department says they do not know the cause yet, but they will be working to put it out throughout the night, as it is a large fire covering major ground.
