The decorations, and the string music speak of Mozart and Spring.

The formal dining room at Jerry Henry's home in LeClaire is where four musicians present  a house concert.

The ensemble is called Quartrio and they specialize in the classics.

Mozart's Quartet #14 is one of many classical pieces they perform.

Sarah Cullen and Jerry Henry play violin. Julie Marston plays the viola and Michael Wahlmann is a cellist.

Henry converts his formal dining room into a stage for the house concerts.  The quartet began playing house concert music about six years ago.

Michael Wahlmann says this form of classical entertainment goes back many, many years. Families would convert a dining room into a ballroom and that is where they danced and played music.

At the Henry home, the setting is intimate, the decorations are seasonal, and food and beverages are served.

Sarah Cullen thinks string music is lively, exciting, and has an energy all its own.

The quartet performs about three house concerts a year. The next concert is Friday April 11, 2014. Doors open at 7pm. Reserved tickets only. Call 563-289-3315 for reservations.
