UPDATE: The bridge is back open to river traffic but only between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

ORIGINAL: Barge traffic on the Mississippi River at Sabula, Iowa is at a standstill as repairs are made to the protection pier that was struck earlier this week.

Canadian Pacific spokesperson, Ed Greenberg says rail traffic was back open just hours after the accident on Tuesday, April 8, 2014.

But, river traffic is still shut down because construction is being done on the protection pier and debris is still being cleaned up.
