Celebrity Appearances For Davenport Menards Grand Opening

Menards has opened a new home improvement store in Davenport and has plans for a 9-day Grand Opening Celebration that includes prizes, demonstrations, discounts and celebrity appearances.

The new Menards store is located at 6600 Brady Street in Davenport at the corner of Hwy 61 and West 65th Street. Family owned and operated since 1958, one of the special guests is Larry Menard. He'll be available at the store on Sun., April 13th from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Other celebrity and guest appearances:

John Gage, Chainsaw Carver: Mon., April 14th through Thur., April 17th from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Fernando Vina, Former St. Louis Cardinals Infielder: Mon., April 14th from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. (Two free autographs)

A two-time Gold Glove Award winner with the St. Louis Cardinals, Fernando Vina was an outstanding second baseman who also had an impressive .282 lifetime batting average in the Major Leagues. Vina had stints with the Mariners, Mets, Brewers and Tigers during his 12-year career, making the All-Star team in 1998. Leg injuries resulted in Vina retiring in 2004 and he is currently a broadcast analyst with the Oakland Athletics.

Willie Gault, former Chicago Bears Wide Receiver: Wed., April 16th from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. (Two free autographs)

An All-American wide receiver and track star at the University of Tennessee, Willie Gault was drafted in the 1st round of the 1983 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. Gault was previously a member of a 4x100 World Record setting team race team that would have competed in the Summer Olympics had the United States not boycotted the 1980 Games. A wide receiver for the '85 Bears championship team, Gault caught four passes for 129 yards in the team's Super Bowl XX win. Gault played five seasons with the Bears and finished his career with the Los Angeles Raiders before retiring in 1993.

Billy Williams, former Chicago Cubs Outfielder: Thur., April 17th from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. (Two free autographs)

One of the most consistent and clutch performers to ever play the game of baseball, "Sweet Swinging" Billy Williams was a legendary outfielder during his 16 seasons with the Chicago Cubs. Williams was the 1961 Rookie of the Year, 1972 Batting Champion, a six-time All-Star and established a National League record by playing in 1,117 consecutive games. As a tribute to his impact on the game, Williams was elected to the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1987 and his retired #26 hangs from the right field foul pole at Wrigley Field.
