Illinois Funds Earmarked For Moline's Sylvan Bridge

Posted: Updated:

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn announced nearly $53 million in state funding for more than 70 local transportation improvement projects across the state.

The City of Moline, Ill. will get over one million dollars of that to help replace the Sylvan Slough bridge which was shut down last spring because of severe structural deficiencies.

Bikers and runners use the bridge to get over the river to access the trails and paths on the island.

The City of Aledo, Ill. will be getting over $500,000 to build a multi-use path.

The path is part of a bigger project to create pedestrian and bicycle links within Aledo.

The money is coming from the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program.
