Posted: Updated:

It was small and didn't cause any damage, but the National Weather Service confirms that a tornado formed over Lone Tree, Iowa Sunday night.

The NWS has classified it as an EF-0 with estimated peak winds at 65 mph. It stretched a mile long and 25 yards wide when it appeared April 13 at 5:56 p.m. about half a mile west of Lone Tree in Johnson County.

A team from the NWS Quad Cities Office looked for damage Monday morning, but none was found. The path of the storm is based on witness accounts and radar. Witnesses said a funnel went up and down numerous times and a video showed the tornado touching down briefly just northwest of town.

The most violent tornado is an EF-5 with winds up to 200 mph.
