Along with marking Earth Day on Tuesday, local organization Living Lands and Waters was gearing up for an exciting addition to help improve the environment year-round. In just a few weeks construction will be complete on a new tree nursery in Davenport. Crews aren't yet unveiling the location but hope to do that in the coming days. It's all part of the MillionTrees Project. Just like volunteers on Tuesday were wrapping young trees for distribution, soon the organization will ask for help planting a lot of acorns and maintaining the new nursery.

"Hopefully we'll get about 100,000 to 150,000 from the 300,000 acorns. Those will be the ones we distribute instead of purchasing them from the nursery down South. We'll actually grow our own and distribute our own trees," said MillionTrees Project coordinator Ashley Stover.

A lot of the funds for the new nursery came from LL&W founder Chad Pregracke's CNN Hero Of The Year award. After this Spring, the MillionTrees Project will be up to about 740,000 trees.
