Quad City area kids will soon be learning not only more about the game of golf but some life lessons.

The First Tee Program in the Quad Cities is helping introduce what's called the "National School Program" at Bettendorf and North Scott schools.

A national trainer was helping instruct teachers on the program. It's an age-friendly golf game for kids kindergarten through 5th grade but also teaches them skills they can use throughout their life.

"They're also teaching the 9 core values of growing up properly and 9 healthy living values, so every one of these little stages they go through they're learning something about courtesy, etiquette, sportsmanship," First Tee Program Director Jim Hasley said.

The same training will take place in May for Rock Island-Milan schools, as well as the Illinois Parochial schools.

The system is already in place in Davenport and Moline.
