The Friendship Way

Posted: Updated:

Singing and smiling make for a winning combination. That's the way it is with the Friendship Manor Chorus in Rock Island.

The chorus members range in age from seventy to ninety seven. Nancy Johnson is the Director. She enjoys choosing the songs which the chorus will perform.

Ninety four year old Baldwin Day sings a solo rendition of Old Man River. Baldwin started singing when he was three years old.

Myrtie  Perkins is ninety seven. She is an original chorus member and says the group is like a family.

Some of the singers have health issues. However, that does not prevent them from coming to practices and performances.

Eighty nine year old Cal Peterson thinks music is like a common language and he enjoys the types of songs the chorus has an opportunity to sing.

Pianist Peg Swenson plays Maple Leaf Rag.

The Friendship Manor Chorus. Where age takes a back seat to their love for music.
