I-88 Westbound Opened After Shutdown

UPDATE: For a second morning in a row there has been a semi truck accident in the Quad City area.

According to the Illinois State Police, a truck tractor/semi-trailer hauling mail lost control and rolled on its side on Thursday, May 1, around 3:45 a.m.

The vehicle came to rest in the westbound lanes of I-88 at mile marker 8, closing down both lanes.

Traffic was re-routed on Old Route 2 from Hillsdale to Exit 1.

All lanes were opened by 6:30 a.m.
           
No injuries were reported at the time of the incident.

The driver, 30-year-old Andriy Goloveshko of Chicago, was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
