Burlington Middle Schoolers Arrested For Marijuana Cookie Scheme

Posted: Updated:
Four middle school students in Burlington, Iowa were arrested on marijuana charges after authorities say their attempt to make pot cookies at their school was foiled.

Burlington Police say concerned students notified staff members at Edward Stone Middle School that some students were bringing marijuana into the school.

They were told by students, the marijuana was going to be used in a home economics class as an ingredient in cookie dough.

An investigation revealed information that two individuals had delivered marijuana to other students and two additional individuals were in possession of the drug.

Police say school officials aided the investigation by finding the cooking items that had evidence of marijuana.

As a result of the investigation, two 13-year-olds were charged with delivery of a controlled substance, a class D felony.

Two other 13-year-olds were charged with possession of a controlled substance, a serious misdemeanor.

The four are scheduled to appear in juvenile court at a date to be determined.
