Loop Service Returns For Summer

Posted: Updated:

The Loop bus service in the Quad Cities is back up and running for the summer season.

The bus drives around to the downtown areas in the Quad City metro and has been funded through a grant.

Organizers say by reducing service last year from four days to two, they've been able to stretch those funds, at least through this season. Now the Loop will run every Friday and Saturday through October.

"Our ridership numbers are pretty good they've been going up they're averaging around 570 riders every weekend," Bettendorf Public Works' Michelle Javornik said. "That's what we averaged last year. People do like the service, very convenient way to see the downtowns."

The original grant was for three years. Now, the city of Bettendorf, Citibus in Davenport and Metrolink plan to explore funding options for the future for the Loop.

Right now one trip on the bus is a dollar or you can buy an unlimited all-day pass for three dollars. The service runs from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m.
